Ground transportation options at the airport:
The cheapest way from the airport to the hotel is to use the Airport Flyer (bus number 28X) of Pittsburgh’s public transit system (called Port Authority, appropriately enough given our conference). It stops just outside the terminal and will drop you off right outside of your hotel (the stop is Forbes Ave. at McKee Place). The bus runs every 30 minutes from 5:30 am to midnight, and takes just under an hour to reach the conference hotel. The fare is $3.75, which has to be precise and in cash. You can find more information here: http://www.portauthority.org/paac/SchedulesMaps/AirportService.aspx
The so-called “ride share” companies Lyft and Uber have a dedicated pick up zone just outside the terminal. This is quicker than the bus (about 30 minutes with little traffic, up to an hour during busy periods). The fare is usually somewhere around $35, but the companies adjust their pricing in response to demand, so rush hour fares can be higher.
Traditional taxis are also available. The fare for these is usually around $60.
Supershuttle is available in Pittsburgh. The cost from the airport to the hotel is $25, and the time it takes depends on the destinations of other passengers sharing the same shuttle. More information is available here: http://www.supershuttle.com/Locations/PittsburghPIT
